It is said that, long ago, when the forests were still alive, that they were guarded by fierce beasts of wood and moss. Those who violated the forest would be hunted down. And even if they managed to flee the forest before retribution was served, they would be hunted by the Abnepos's shadow.
Part Two of my "I'm-so-happy-I-have-Internet-I'm-going-to-pass-out-on-the-floor-from-giggling" celebration.
A very long collaboration piece between myself and an Illustrator of the Future buddy, Ozzie Rodriguez. (And man, I had to look up how to spell that. Sorry, Ozzie.) I've always loved the pose and the detail; this was one of those rare pencilworks that just kind of seemed to fall out of the ... well, pencil.
Light and shadow is my current obsession, and this is by no means a perfect execution of a genius technique, but I was pleased that I figured out how to do universal light. The digital painting took me about 5 hours or so; I had anticipated about 20 or 30. Digital, you were my first love, and so you shall remain.
I can't help but feel like I short-chained Ozzie's awesome inkwork. It certainly wasn't my intention, but this all worked out perfectly in my head. It was like "Yeah, the ink'll be her shadow and stuff!" Reality continues to ruin my life. But I'm certain I'll recieve more critique on how to fix it from my IOTF friends than I ever wanted to. And Starhorse. There's always Star.
i love those talons and teeth! (why the sharp objects...) and the foreshortening is just incredible
I love the concept of this picture, and the colors and especially the pose, so wonderfully dynamic.
