Scales-Like-Smoking-Mirrors commanded the powers of fire, and he wanted fierce and dangerous creations. So he trekked into the deepest bowels of molten eruptions, and found material that was harder than any rock. He pulled a bone from his leg, and used his own teeth and scales to fashion the mighty-jawed theros.
Scales-Like-Smoking-Mirrors is the Dragon King of the theros, the large carnivores like allosaurids and tyrannosaurids.
The theros are represented on the soundtrack by Ten Years Kashmir (Film Percussion Mix) by the Cornerstone Cues [link] (Long before the John Carter of Mars's trailer came out.) Since the theros in the story are largely represented by villainous and corrupting forces, I felt they needed something that represented their relentless strength, with a backdrop that once these things were noble and fell from grace.
Smoking-Mirrors changed a lot from his concept to his final, because he got way too visually busy too fast. I felt his texture was enough, rather than decorating him with Ceratosaurus horns or the metal studs in his jaw I originally envisioned. He's pretty much a basic T-Rex head made of lava.
That's awesome! I love the bit of mythology, and I love the concept! However I do have to point out something: A mirror is a human invention, and therefore didn't exist in previous eras. If it doesn't exist, there can't really be a deity named with it, or can there?
also, smoking MIRRORS. yes. I love reflective objects... <3
