+DS+ :: Make Your Own Luck

Part 2 of my illustration style of painting. I wanted to experiment with ink lines and I plan to do one more with pencil before making a final decision. I think I like lines too much to stray from them completely, but I have never been able to colorize lines after my color job is done. This time I colored my ink lines the same way I did my Metuo painting: set them over a neutral background and colored about %75 darker then the background. Then I build up from there. I tried to do lines completely by tablet, coloring over, but it was just too time consuming. And I know I need something I can knock out in a couple of days without slaving over it, if I'm gonna be doing thirty or so illustrations. (It also defeats the purpose of inking.) If the lines look familiar, Sospes is one of the few concept linearts that made the cut into being chapter headers. Nandin, Nigh, and Vindex's warform are the others, so expect to see them redone.

I daresay this is an improvement over the concept work. A testament to what I've learned since then. But in all fairness concept is to lay out color schemes.
