"He's playing with the storm again." "Glaeba, must you? It's not that we mind, but pausing every drop within a two mile radius is just a tad disconcerting for everyone else."
I've wanted to do a picture of Glaeba freezing the rain for a while now. His song on my novel soundtrack is "Wild Child" by Enya, which is impossible not to envision falling rain to. Glaeba's water ability has been pretty downplayed, at least in my illustration of him, but despite his name meaning "the little earth" he is a Water daemon.
This was a chance to breathe free after an extremely shitty internship went sour, but for the barest of moments, I have nothing to do but my own art. Since I'm revamping the Daemon Soul series of novels, I'm revamping some of the artwork, too. Nothing in this was particularly labor intensive except actually painting Glaeba in Corel Painter 9. I was working on some pretty nifty reflections in the raindrops themselves, until I realized that one of the rules in my fantasy worlds is that souless do not cast reflections or shadows! So I deleted that layer, for, ah, plot reasons, shall we say.
I haven't heard that song in a while. I like Enya though. Her music is soothing. Revamping your novel series? I just had one question and please don't take this offensively, has a novel of your ever been published?
I love the fur on him in this piece, though probably just because of the way the green shines on it. The water effect is cool though, and I think that scene would be pretty funny. xD

lol, no. I have marketed several, and my high fantasy novel The Dragon Rose has gotten some good feedback from agents, namely "it's not for us, but your writing is good, so keep marketing." So I think I'm getting there, but I don't wanna self-publish like a loser.
