"My name's Ferdinand Osfield. Ferdinand, you know? The bull who liked roses? My mom was a bit too fond of that story. You can call me Nandin. Please, please call me Nandin."
"Which, incidentally, is also the name of another bull. 'He who pleases', Nandin was the white bull that Shiva, the goddess of War, rode to battle in Hindu mythology here on Earth. A symbol of virility, if I recall correctly."
"... This has been another useless fact moment, by Nigh!"
"All right, if you want to make yourself useful, go scout for a bit, mister virile!"
"Aye aye, commander. You wound me!"
The character of Nandin, who is Sospes' human counterpart. Humans are obviously my weak point, but I'm hoping to really tackle them throughout my works. This drawing took about 4 hours, but I was very plesed with it. While animals have their own challenges when it comes to hair and scales, humans bring a whole new set when it comes to clothes, texture, and how folds behave. I really need to get some contemperary fashion magazines. I myself have no fashion sense at all, but my characters need to have some. I wasn't sure on the length of the staff; it's primarily a weapon before its a walking stick. Nandin can run faster than a car if he wants too, the staff isn't meant for support. However, that's also kind of the point of a staff. Concept.
Nandin is the sense of humor in the story, really the only bright or optimistic spot when it comes to attitude. He is very easygiong and talkative, and certainly a catalyst for folks like Metuo, and exchanges a lot of jibes with Nigh. Nandin usually says everything Sospes would, so he ends up doing a lot of the daemon's talking for him. Nandin tries to make a joke out of everything, which can get annoying. Nandin represents the success story of daemon hopes: he shares his soul with Sospes. There are a number of perks: Nandin shares in many of Sospes' magical abilities, like air-running and combat luck; and downfalls: daemons and their human counterparts begin exchanging physical features. Nandin's hair used to be all black, and Sospes' eyes are turning amber-hazel. (Yeah, I went back and changed it.) Nandin has been on the daemon homeworld of Solaar for five years, so he's kind of eager to get back to video games and microwave popcorn.
