He goes uh wan, wan? Uuuuu? No I can assure you he makes a much louder noise than that.
Sorry Ive been out of the loop so long. Class and all, but Ive put myself on a rather strict regimen of 2 hours of drawing a night. Its been like a locomotive gathering speed. Im determined to finish my character sheets. I hit a snag between Rin and this guy, whose design went on about a four-week hiatus while I did drills for my Drawing for Animation Class. (It has, incidentally, been one of the best things to ever happen to me as an artist.) When I came back to him I saw he needed some serious work . There are already some things about a lot of the character sheets that Id like to push further, but its been a great exercise in silhouette and motif. I dont have to try and remember what a character is wearing or where a particular marking is thanks to these, and that frees up a lot of possibilities. (At this point the paper texture thingie is a tradition, not anything Im enjoying aesthetically.) Anyway, while not a particularly major character, Chaimu-Kane shows up enough times in the story to merit a character sheet. In case you cant guess, I realized I hadnt done a specifically Rottweiler based character before. (Nigh and Cerastes have hints of it, but none of them look it in the face.) The last half of his name is the Japanese word for bell, by the way, not the kool way to spell that guy who killed Abel. Both Rin and Chaimu have thematic names that mean metal bell, but Chaimus name also has a more literal interpretation of chiming bell or even ring ring. Japanese is so nuanced I could just not know how to finish that sentence even for the purposes of mocking it. Dammit!
[link] - That is how missmonster had her art turned into toys. Three of them, so far. Pretty nifty site. I want to submit my own ideas but have yet to come-up with anything I consider worthwhile.
Anyways, I love this guy. And his crazy big forepaws and claws. What can I say, I'm a sucker for big and pointy. XD No slim, sparkly emo boys for me, thanks (otherwise I'd be a Twilight fan XD). I love your stylization. So distinct. I always know when I'm looking at your art and when I'm not. :3
"Cute"'s a four letter word, missy. (I'm also hoping I secretly didn't screw that up, but I seriously researched the sound a dog makes in Japan. If we can go "arf arf", it doesn't make any less sense than "wan wan". A lot of folks have recommended PatchTogether. I may pursue a Chaimu figure, but I'd want him a slightly more ... er, interesting pose than this one. Don't get me wrong, if I had my way I'd put all my characters up there. Heh. I want Nigh and Cerastes, big time. I'll look into it!
This character looks like he could kick some serious butt, which makes that fact that he's got a ball in his mouth ever better.
I'm really loving these character designs so far - this one is my favorite. I can totally see this being put together as a toy for patchtogether.com - everyone is doing it these days but this design (or something similar) would really stand out.
I'd liek to give it a job; I'm super envious of people who've made it through the voting process. I'd want to draw up a better pose for him a slightly more refined design, but I'd love to have him as a figure. In addition to several other characters .... mwhaha.

And "cute" IS a four letter word. Ka-wa-i-i!
And yes, you were correct in your use of "wan, wan."
